Osteoporosis Screening (DXA) and Consultation
Osteoporosis is a silent bone condition that can affect women of all ages. OB/GYN Associates of Erie uses DXA technology to help detect low bone density. Our office utilizes the G.E. Lunar Prodigy Advance DXA machine. This machine delivers exceptional image precision with minimal radiation exposure.
Densitometry staff are members of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (I.S.C.D.), which is a professional membership association dedicated to advancing excellence in the assessment of skeletal health through certification and continuing education requirements.
Our office also uses the FRAX tool to predict a patient’s risk of fracture. This tool integrates an individual’s clinical risk factors to give the 10-year probability of fracture. This assists with individualized recommendations for treatment.
Women diagnosed with osteoporosis, or who are at risk for osteoporosis, work with our Advanced Practice Providers to improve nutrition and exercise, and to explore medical therapy recommendations.
