Midwifery Care
As trained medical professionals, certified nurse midwives provide care, education, counseling and support to women and newborns during their pregnancy, delivery and the postpartum period. Midwives also provide well-woman care and preventative health services for women.
At OB/GYN Associates, the certified nurse midwifes work collaboratively with the physicians in the practice. This allows easy access to consultations and surgical care for their patients when necessary.
OB/GYN Associates advocates the option for certified midwifery care for its patients and was the first group in Erie to add a CNM to its staff.
Our practice now has five nurse midwives:
- Kim Bennett, who delivers babies at Magee-Womens Hospital, UPMC Hamot
- Peg Boyd, Heather Mozdy, Kaara Matkovich, and Julie Schwab who deliver at Saint Vincent Hospital, a member hospital of the Allegheny Health Network
